Panel recommends Thomas Edison statue go in U.S. Capitol

The committee's recommendation now goes to the Legislature for a final vote later this year. Ohioans earlier this year gave the nod to Edison in a vote at historic sites around the state. He won a close vote over aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright. The committee voted 6-0 to go with Edison.

Panel recommends Edison statue go in US Capitol

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Thomas Edison is a step closer to Washington. A panel of state lawmakers voted Thursday to recommend that the inventor born in northern Ohio be the subject of a new Ohio statue in the U.S. Capitol.
